Fresno County History Day is a local contest
with winners advancing to the state and then to the national level. Students begin their journey by presenting
their projects at Liberty, Clovis West Area, and then the County. Top entries
are invited to the state/affiliate level contests. The top two entries in every
category at the state/affiliate level are then invited to the National Contest.
The contest involves students from all over
Fresno County who conduct and present original research on historical topics.
This contest provides the organizational structure for students to enter
contests at the local, state, and national levels.
Through your participation in the contest, you will experience important benefits beyond
learning about interesting issues, ideas, people, and events of your choosing. You will hone your expressive abilities as you demonstrate command of your topic and present your work in one of the competition’s formats: paper, exhibit, performance, documentary, or website. At the local and affiliate competitions, you have the opportunity to meet students from other schools, exchange ideas, and demonstrate the results of your work. Your success in researching and producing a History Day entry may even take you to the National Contest.
For the past six years, Liberty has successfully moved on
from the local level to the state level. In 2018 Liberty had its first entry
into the National History Day Contest!
