Checkout Policy :
Students are allowed to check out books weekly during their class library time. They may also visit the library during recess times; however, they must have a pass to enter the library during this time. TK-1st grades are allowed to check out 1 book at a time, and grades 2-6th may check out 2 books. Books are due back 2 weeks after the checkout date. Items may be renewed for additional time.
Lost or Damaged Books :
If a book is lost or damaged beyond repair, the student will be responsible for either paying the cost to replace the item or purchasing a copy on their own of the same item to replace in the library. This includes books left outside in the rain, eaten by pets, or crushed or damaged. Please contact Mrs. K with any questions.
Block L Library Helpers :
5th and 6th grade students have the opportunity to volunteer as library helpers to earn points towards Block L here at Liberty. Applications are available at the start of each quarter, and students must attend the mandatory training meeting during lunch recess. All service time will be during school hours and class library visits.
Accelerated Reader Program

Students must develop their skills in reading so that they may read increasingly complex material with excellent comprehension. Each quarter, students use an electronic program called Accelerated Reader (AR) where they earn points by taking quizzes on books at their instructional reading level. Students are expected to maintain a reading log to chart their progress toward meeting their grade level reading goals. A handout on reading goals and the AR program will be sent home and reviewed at Back To School Night.
